The tribute to Stephen Hawking on ITV's This Morning went hilariously wrong

At least we know Stephen Hawking would have laughed about it too.

SINCE THE NEWS of Stephen Hawking’s death emerged yesterday morning, we’ve been reminded of what a brilliant sense of humour the man had.

Hawking used his theories to reassure upset fans that in an alternative universe, Zayn Malik is still a member of One Direction. He was always up for a laugh when it came to TV roles, and he loved this Larry Flynt gag in The Simpsons:

So it’s safe to say, that somewhere out there, he’s laughing at what happened when Phillip and Holly tried to pay tribute to him on yesterday’s episode of This Morning.

Holly introduced the upcoming segment:

We want to pay tribute to the world-renowned physicist and genuine genius, Stephen Hawking, who has sadly died at the age of 76.

Phillip continued:

He leaves behind a huge legacy, not just as a mathematician and an astrophysicist, but also as an inspiration to millions.

Then the camera cut to a montage of Stephen Hawking clips, and for some strange reason, the soundtrack was ‘All About That Bass’ by Meghan Trainor. Maybe it was someone’s first day.

Viewers were in knots. It’s a wonder that Holly and Phil were able to keep it together.
